Double Delicious Halloween Bars

halloween is just around the corner and i can't wait.
it is one of my favorite holidays.
i love everything about it.
the weather, dressing up, parties, food
and of course the candy!

so because it is almost halloween you need
a halloween treat right?
these bars may not look scary or
halloweenie??
but they are to DIE for.

i found this recipe 3 years ago laying in a pile
in my moms kitchen.
i don't even remember where it came from.
i think a magazine or the newspaper.
anyways i wrote the recipe down and made it.
and now i make them every year.
maybe even more than once a year.
you can just take the "halloween" out
and insert any holiday you want just
so you have an excuse to make them.

Double Delicious Halloween Bars
-1/2 cup margarine or butter
-1 1/2 cup graham cracker crumbs
-1 (14oz) can sweetened condensed milk (pretty sure this is what makes these bars so tasty)
-1 (12oz) package semi-sweet chocolate chips
-1 cup peanut butter chips

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350. In a 9x13 pan, melt butter in the oven. Sprinkle graham cracker crumbs evenly over butter. Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over crumbs. Top with chips; press down firmly.
Bake 25-30 minute. Cool. Cut into bars and...ENJOY!
(these need a tall glass of milk as well)

Double Chocolate Cookies

i love chocolate.
so when i saw this recipe on pinterest i had to make it.
they turned out so delicious!
but they were super rich, you had to have a glass of milk
per cookie you ate. seriously though.
but man were they amazing.

Double Chocolate Cookies
-1 cup (2 sticks) cold, unsalted butter, cubed
-1¼ cup sugar
-2 large eggs
-½ cup cocoa powder
-2¼ cups all-purpose flour
-¼ tsp. coarse salt
-1 tsp. baking powder
-2½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350˚ F.  Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.  In the bowl of an electric mixer, combine the butter and sugar.  Beat together on medium-high speed until light and fluffy, 2-3 minutes.  Blend in the eggs one at a time, scraping down the bowl as needed.  Mix in the cocoa powder until well blended.  Add the flour, salt and baking powder to the bowl and mix on low speed just until incorporated.  Fold in the chocolate chips with a spatula.  Transfer the dough to a work surface and knead briefly by hand to be sure the ingredients are well combined.

Roll your 24 pieces of cookie dough in little balls. Place on baking sheet and flatten slightly with a spoon. Bake 16-18 minutes. Let cool on baking sheet for 10 minutes before transferring to cooling rack.

Poor yourself a tall glass of milk, grab a cookie and enjoy!

in the original recipe this makes 12 ginormous cookies, but i made 24 decent sized ones. i felt like i could eat more. hehe
